Books for Christmas

Well, Christmas is over and I think I made out pretty well.
Here are the books that I received which I posted to LibraryThing, in no particular order:
History of the Christian Church, 8 vols, by Philip Schaff (Gift from my wonderful in-laws)
Small-Scale Livestock Farming: A Grass-Based Approach for Health, Sustainability, and Profit, by Carol Ekarius, as well as Storey's Guide to Raising Beef Cattle: Health/Handling/Breeding, by Heather Smith Thomas (Gift from my brother and sister in-law Brandon and Jenny).
O'Connor: Collected Works, by Flannery O'Connor (Gift from my brother and sister in-law Daniel and Michelle).
I look forward to getting though these.
History, Fiction and Reference.

Quotes-Christmas Card 2006

"He whom the entire universe could not contain was held in Mary's arms."

However, this is not the original quote, I changed it from this ancient hymn phrase (seemed to be better for a Christmas card):

"He whom the entire universe could not contain was contained within your womb, O Theotokos."

Here's a link that includes some information on what Theotokos means.

Merry Christmas!

Fortune Cookie

,
Having packed all of our pots and pans, the night before we left for Abingdon, VA, we ate some Pickup Stixs take out. At the end of our American fast food version of Chinese food I opened up my fortune cookie and found this inside...
"You are heading for a land of sunshine and relaxation"
Sometimes even fortune cookie fortunes are right! ;-)

Quotes-Education

"I am as sure as I am of Christ's reign that a comprehensive and centralized system of national education, separated from religion, as is now commonly proposed, will prove the most appalling enginery for the propagation of anti-Christian and atheistic unbelief, and of anti-social nihilistic ethics, individual, social and political, which this sin-rent world has ever seen."
-A.A. Hodge (written in 1886) h/t ETC
